What is an online ebook?

An online ebook quite simply is a website that is created to act like a book. They are created with a flash component that makes the corners of the ebook pages turn and animate in a page like way. The user can click on the corner to ‘turn the page’ or click and drag the corners of each page across the screen, allowing the user to feel like they are truly turning the pages of this online book.

Why have an ebook rather than a traditional website?

The choice of an ebook over a traditional website really comes down to personal taste. Since they are still relatively new in the world of web they can add that 'wow' factor to your site and allow for an extra talking point amongst your clients. We think they work especially well when displaying a menu or a pricelist, or something that is normally presented in a book / leaflet format, but they can also lend themselves to virtually any type of website you might want.

Again like our Templated Websites we can offer these ebooks in our Package Deals as we can turn them around in a quicker time than a bespoke built and designed website would take us. This is due to the flash plug in used to create the ebook, it basically means that the site does not need to be hand coded in the same way as a bespoke hand build website does. So although the design is still bespoke (hence the increase in cost compared to the Templated Websites) we do not need to spend as much time on the build and therefore can offer you one of these at a cheaper cost, with a quicker turn about time.

Will your online ebook look the same as someone else using one of our ebooks?

Your ebook will be unique. Each ebook will make use of an original bespoke design created specifically for your site. Although the functionality of the page turning is the same, and some of the options for navigation could be similar, this is where the similarities stop, it’s no more the same as any other two bespoke built websites would be.

Why use our online ebooks?

Our ebooks are all created in flash, this allows us great flexibility in terms of navigation and therefore ease of use for the end user.
With our ebooks we also have the option to add tabs and buttons to help the user navigate through the ebook so, should they not to want to browse through page by page, they can use a tab, or button, to jump straight to a specific section and reach their required information quicker. Our ebooks also allow for little extras like adding 'page turning sound clips' and allowing users to click and drag the corners of the pages manually across the screen, all adding to the book like experience we are looking to emulate.
Our ebooks also include individual page loading, which basically means quick loading times for the end user. Unlike many other ebooks on the market, where the whole ebook has to be loaded into the browser before it can be viewed, our ebooks load each page as it is needed, cutting down on waiting time.

Can everyone view the online ebooks?

Like any other website the online ebook can be viewed in all internet browsers (e.g. Explorer, Netscape, Firefox etc) and the user does not need to download any application. Our e-books are built using a flash component. Users will need to have the very common flash player installed (Flash Player is installed on 98% of Internet-enabled desktops worldwide, this equates to about 800 million Internet-connected desktops as well as on a wide range of popular devices). This Flash Player is the same as what is needed to view any normal flash website.
On the rare occasion that your user does not already have Flash Player installed do not worry, all our online ebooks are built to recognise this and offer the user the ability to download the Player. You can find out more about Flash Player at www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

What does it cost and what is included?

Each online ebook package includes a beautiful custom design and up to 12 pages of content* as well as navigation buttons or tabs if desired.
*one page is counted a single sided page – as in a page of a book. The 12 pages include the front and back cover of the ebook

Also offered with your online ebook is:-

• 1 year’s web hosting
• 1 year’s ownership of a .com or .eu domain name of your choice*
  (if available)
• Up to 5 basic email accounts
• Up to 10 stock images (Up to 10 small low resolution web images, or 3 larger low resolution web images, or 2 vector images).

Each online ebook is built to be search engine friendly, with validated code and meta tags (meta tags & description to be supplied by client).

*Other domain name extensions may be included in the offer, please enquire. If not, all domains can be supplied, although an extra cost may be incurred.

Please note that if you would like something extra to what is included in the package we will always be able to accommodate you, although there might be an extra charge. • Updates to the ebook after final sign off
• Copy writing (All site content will need to be supplied by client)
• Design of a company logo
• SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
• IT support

Please note that all the above (apart from IT support) can be offered for an extra fee if required.

What if I am not happy with my ebook?

We do not believe this will happen as we will be working with you every step of the way. We will discuss with you what you want to achieve from your online ebook, the colours you want to use etc and of course make use of any existing branding. We will send you your ebook designs to view and give feedback. Once you are happy, and only after your sign off, will the ebook be ready to put live.
